Me vs sprayed Eagle Summit

I met up with a bunch of people on a Columbus-only car forum tonight, met a lot of really cool people and checked out a few hot cars. This one kid I talked to had a Summit with a 75 shot with a cai/exhaust, and everybody sorta made us race . About six of us cruised down to this cornfield, and the road down the middle was pretty narrow. The owner of the forum took his truck down a 1/4 mile, parked on the side, and last one through his headlights would be the winner.

We lined up and a WRX (with more than $20k in mods, but his dreamcar is another story..) parked behind us and we went on the third flash of his brights. My launch was pretty bad, I squeeled and started bouncing a bit, but my steelies got me off the line a lot quicker than my 17's would have. He instantly got a 1-2 car jump but I was right on his tail. I pounded through 1st and 2nd, gaining slowly back up to him, and 3rd gear pulled me up and past him right before the line. The guy in the truck later on said I had about a 1.5 car lead. I beat him with a full interior too - sub box, spare tire, all the carpet/wood crap thrown in.. since weight's always a big argument on here.

We all met back at the parking lot and were talking about how cool of a race it was to watch me come back and win etc.. These guys were really cool, and on that forum they have a Top-25 list. Well this guy was #23, now he's #24 . He said he runs mid 14's in the 1/4 mile so looks like I'll have some new, lower numbers posted on here this coming Spring. All in all it was fun to hang out, meet a ton of new people (even though we froze our asses off), and talk about cars all night.

Yeah I guess.. He said he runs high 16's - low 17's off the bottle so that sounds about right. On another note, his car is an automatic, and his cold bottle was only at 600psi. With a 75 jet that should have still sprayed as a 45-55 shot at least. Next weekend we're going again after he wraps the bottle with a warmer so it should be a closer finish and who knows maybe I'll lose

if he runs high 16's off the bottle, i don't see how a 75 shot would put him at mid 14's. more like mid-high 15's.

not taking anything away from ur kill, simply that the numbers make no sense to say he's running that low of a time.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Me vs sprayed Eagle Summit

I ran a 17.1 with i/h/e, then a 14.9 on a 55 shot (at a high bottle psi), so I believe him. We ran at the same track too, same elevation etc.

but under wut conditions?

did u have new tires? more driving experience at the track (obviously)...any weight taken out? temp at the track on both days?

because the numbers under the SAME conditions (driver/tires/temp etc...) wouldn't show that much of a gain w/ out something else changing as well. jus trying to figure out how is all..simply doesn't add up.

Re: Me vs sprayed Eagle Summit

Nope, had the same tires, same rims, same ACT clutch, same i/h/e.. just ran better. Both days were about 70 degrees. Come on man, you know a DX runs crap times with a few bolt-ons. I did have the perfect run though when I got the 14.9, but that same day ran 15.1 twice, and 15.2 once.

i understand ur point, but all im saying is that that size of a shot isn't going to take that much time off.

how many times had u gone before u ran in the 17's? because a dx w/ i/h/e is capable of low-mid 16's. so if u ran a perfect run, u'd be taking more like a second off of the stock time. not two seconds.

i completely believe that u ran the times an all, jus stating how it could have happened.
