help! need chi-town folks for photo project!

hello everyone,

i recently joined this board and this is my first post. i'm a photography student at Columbia College in downtown chicago and i'm supposed to do a project for a class i am taking this semester. we're supposed to be making portraits, but i thought it would be cool if i could make portraits with people and their cars. i've been interested in the tuning scene for a while and i thought this would be a good way to combine these interests.

i wanted to ask if anyone would let me photograph them and their cars and the work they're doing on them. (interiors of cars, too). i'm a pretty good photographer if i do say so myself -- i do some commercial work part-time to pay for school -- and you would get alot of free pictures. i know that the import scene was started as a kind of an asian american thing, but i'm interested in photographing all types of folks and their cars. i'm supposed to put up an exhibit at the end of the summer at school and a web gallery, so folks will see your ride.

i don't know that much about tuning, but i've been trying to read up on it, on this message board, other websites, through magazines, and i've visited some of the shops in the area.

i live in downtown chicago but have a car and can travel pretty much anywhere. i know it's cold as hell right now, but i wanted to see if i can get into some garages now and then wait for the warmer weather when you're out there with your cars.

but my car isn't all that.
i do hang around the races some weekends though. sometimes lots of cars, sometimes none, haha
