Question running speaker wire to the doors-post from Norway :)

This might be a bit longer than necessary 'cause of my bad english..

I bought myself a sweet set of infinity kappas 6.5" speakers, and I've placed the midbasses in the stock locations in the doors. BUT! The original speaker wire is way to thin, so I've runned monster cable from the amp in the trunk and forward. After struggeling (?) (busting my a** of? to get the cable into the doors for a whole day through the original rubber grommet, I gave up, made a little hole in the grommet, ran it on the outside of the grommet and in to the car. This is NOT a permanent solution, as it's not water proof (winters are WET in Norway), its not pretty, and I really don't think it's good for the cables. It's been like this for 4 months anyway..lazy me...I guess you guys know the Q here..HOW? What have you done? I don't want to take the door of..

The same way you just described... if you want it to be waterproof try putting some like silicone sealer on both sides of the metal where the wire runs through the door... and also see if you can put some like plastic wire loom on it to protect it ~ but im not sure if your car will allow for this and still be able to close the door... but just a little extra protection if you can get it to work

speaker wires..again.. :)

Thanx Sparq!
Then I'll just have to make another hole in the rubber grommet closest to the car, run the wire through there and seal it on both sides with silicone stuff..I'd rather manage to get it into the grommet but this is fu**** impossible so..Right now it's 20degress (C) cold here so I'll guess I do it some other day..

Regards

Re: speaker wires..again.. :)

Ack I would watch working on it in the cold... you might end up totally busting the rubber thing. But so you know, behind that rubber thing you are trying to pull off is just a connection for a wire harness that plugs into your door.

They do that so when you get into an accident and you have to replace the door, you just have to replace the door and not the entire cars wiring harnesses. There really IS NOT room behind the rubber protector to run wires... I say just leave them where they are, or get a set of kick pods so you dont have to run the wire through the doors

kickpods!

yeah, I would love to get some kicks! But getting those over here is EXPENSIVE! I could custom make some myself but don't know if I'm up to that task, besides, kics in this wet snowy land could be ruined after a couple of months due to all the water..I have to have rubber floor mats to collect the water in the winter..NOT stylish..

But back to the connector on the door..I don't think I can just unhock it 'cause I have aftermarket central locking and el. windows...I think they ran the wires straight through..Seem as though I have to go for the silicone sealant version! Unless you can ship me some Q-logic kicks? Or some other fabricated kicks? Aren't you the one with the "shop" around here?

Re: kickpods!

Its too bad your car wasnt one year younger because then I could have whipped you up a set of fiberglass kicks for $150... BUT, I dont have access to a 6th gen

I live in Syracuse NY, trust me the weather isnt any better then where you live im sure ~ you just have to watch where you put your feet and youll be all set

to bad, i'd love some kicks..maybe I'll try to get some if I go overseas next fall. I checked out your location - Da' Cuse.. You know, in norwegian it means something like "The Pussy". Kuse is Pussy in norwegian, hehe. Anyway, isn't kicks in the way when you clutch? I have rather long legs so I actually need all the leg room I can get..But I was thinking doors for mids and a pillars for highs, with some fiberglass.
I'll probably post a Q. about getting off the pillars. If you don't know?
