Question Electrical problems

The power locks and power seat stopped working in my 94 Taurus 3.8. They both stopped working at the same time. Is it a ground?

Check for a blown fuse. If you find the fuse has blown, replace it and then turn the car on but don't do anything else yet.

Re-check the fuse. Did it blow immediately? If yes, the short circuit is between the fuse and the first switch in line, which is most likely the switch in the driver's door. Some cars also have a little circuit breaker installed above the fuse box; mine got dented (metal case) and would short and blow the fuse every so often. (This was on an '89 wagon).

If the fuse stays good when just turning the car on, try each window switch in turn, to see if one of those controls is blowing the fuse. If not the windows, check and see if the locks are doing it.

Let us know what you find, good luck.

Dan
