Re: PWR FMIC air to air

Sounds alittle too cheap unless you got connections. 400 bucks won't even get you a good sidemount. For a good FMIC kit look to spend a grand. Victory Performance makes a kit that i have only heard good things about, stainless piping and a cooling fan come in the kit for 1500 or so.

I paid 1050 when I bought my VP SS kit. 1500 is absurd. Could be some rice shop jacking up the price perhaps. I have no idea what a PWR intercooler is, and I'm asuming for 400 bucks its only the core. IF you can find out what core it is, or at least what type it is, and the size, I can take a guess at how good it may be. I wouldnt go smaller than 24x10x3.5 for a 2g, and for a 1g most people go 8 or 10" tall. I believe the 24x12x3.5 kit I run from SBR/Kinetic may only be 900. I would talk to SBR and see if those kits are shipping yet. Thats a BIG core. I have pics I can put up later. Actually I found some on RKO

There are more pics in the thread here: http://www.racingknowledge.org/topic...archTerms=fmic

Not that you should specificly be looking at this kit, but this the general idea of what a good FMIC kit consists of. Hope it helps.

I cant believe that douchenozzle charges another 350 bucks fora core that is 2" taller. That difference is what I paid for my whole kit in those pics, lol. If someone wanted to go with the VP kits for whatever reason I would not recomend spending 350 extra for the race core. Just doesnt seem worth it to me. People are running 10s on the 24x10 anyway. Just my opinion though. Its just money after all...

i know of pwr like i said I know alot of subaru guys that use thier top mount. they have a couple diffrent ones 24x11x3.5 for 589.00, 24x10.5x3 for 489.00, 24x8x3 for 499.00,22x8x3 for 479.00. they are just the cores with end tanks I dont need the piping becuase I have the piping I need. they are all universal. mike laskey uses thier radiator and air to water intercooler on his 9sec crx so somthing must be good about them lol. the site is www.cheapturbos.com that where thier at.thanks

The size is good, and the price is good, but I prefer the bar and plate type IC. You can see the difference in construction if you compare the pics. Tube and Fin tend to be less robust, and typically have higher pressure drops jsut because of the way they are mnufactured. There is a pretty good link on RKO in the forced induction section that explains all of the different core designs. SBR can sell the core I used for the same price as those are listed for. Do the research, and decide for yourself what type of core you want, since price is the same. One other advantage to the SBR core may be that it will most likely alreayd have brackets to bolt onto the front frame of the DSM, saving you one extra step. Give a look, and see what fits your situation best. Either one will be a good choice, niehter of the cores are terrible, especially compared to the stocker

No problem. Give them a good hard look, and do some research. I would rather you buy either one based on your own research than just my recomendation Good luck.

By the way, if you call up SBR, they will talk your ear off about FMICs, especially Mike (the owner). Naturally they will recomend thier core, but its a good idea to explore all options.
