Re: 93 civic dx tranny??

You're going to have to change the tranny to a hydraulic B series, or get a conversion kit to run a cable clutch in your car. www.hasport.com has them

Re: 93 civic dx tranny??

Before you go boosting, you should look into how you motor and it's parts work. There is no spinning of hydraulic anything, hydraulic means it uses fluid to actuate it, not spin turbine to power a town.

When you step on the pedal, it pushes fluid, which builds up pressure, and moves the slave cylinder to push the shift fork, and so on.

i guess u missunderstood wat i said...i do know how my motor works and wat spins.....also wat i meant was once i go turbo i want a tranny the keeps the compressor (IN THE TURBO) to keep spinning...wat i was asking was, is the cable tranny as affective as the b series hydro...

trannys comaparing are....94+ hydro ls tranny vs. 92 cable ls tranny?

Re: 93 civic dx tranny??

Apparently you have no idea how a turbo works, your tranny, DOES NOT SPIN A TURBO. Turbos are driven off of exhaust gas from the motor. You can be parked in neutral and hit full boost.

Re: 93 civic dx tranny??

Now if you are talking about whether the gearing of the tranny has shift points that let you take advantage of full boost, and powerband, then no there is no difference.

for an anaology a hydro trany works like the brakes on your car. hydro is better than cable i would have to say. its smoother for one thing and i would think it would be stronger and more dependible.

Re: 93 civic dx tranny??

IMO, you should sell the cable and get a hyraulic B series tranny, a GSR, or B16A would be good, or an ITR if you have some cash.

As far as tranny gearing, it doesn't matter if it is hydraulic or cable, it matters what model it is. The vtecs trannies have shorter gears for more sporty driving, while the non vtecs such as the LS/RS/GS, tc.. have longer more highway friendly gears.

Re: 93 civic dx tranny??

well hopefully when this project is complete i wanna run low 12s on street tires with race gas..and alot of people say the ls is better because it keeps the t3/t4 (which i plan on getting) at full boost for a little bit longer...so when u make that shift to 2...3...4...then 5th u get that full blast of bone crushing torque (being sarcastic) hardy har har....but i could be wrong...
