need help please read inside

I have a 94 dodge intrepid 3.5 e.s., It keeps blowing the 40a raditor fan fuses i have bought fans to replace them with however, i cant seem to get the main fan out of the harness its like if theres something holding it. any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Just so i dont confuse anyone i bought the placement fans at the local dead car dealer ship, i removed the one fan fairly simple however the bigger one with the motor if im looking at it right once everything is removed should just fall out, minus the fan blade itself however that is not what its doing and it seems as if there is something holding it. i unplugged the fans placed a fuse in started the car didnt blow the fuse, plugged the fans back in with the fuse in ran the car till the fans are to kick on and bang popped the fuse, so you can see my need to replace these bad fans.
