11,000 dollar budget what should i buy?

I am about to buy a new project car and my budget is 11k including the car. I have been doing a lot of research and the 240sx looks promising, I can get some good power with the SR20 engine swap, and still add more after that. So what exactly do yall think I should buy and how much would it cost?

I only want the 240 fastback and Im almost positive I want the SR20, I will also get new wheels, exhaust, and springs.

Should I have any left over after that what should I get?

By the way I get all bodywork and engine work for free.

Thanks to everyone replies and all of the help.

Also any suggestions of any betters cars for the money lemme know, thanks.

Re: 11,000 dollar budget what should i buy?

I would buy a used TT Z32 or a 1st gen M3.

Otherwise, '92 Fastback anywhere from $500 to $3000 depending on condition.
Complete SR = $2500
You should have Up to $5500 left over.

Buy the 240. I have a & had a lot of experince on the track with a 200SX(yes fellas, in Oz, NZ, europe the silvia is called a 200sx). Remove the 2.4 & you can swap in a sr20det. You can also(like many do in Oz & Japan) pop in a RB26dett(Skline GTR engine) with little hassle, but your car will need to have some more work carried out on the front end due to more mass in front of the front strut towers. Also I believe the 240's have the single front front spot calipers, where here we have the four spotters which will easily fit the 240 + you can use a r33/34 gts(not gtr) skyline discs at the front. With a internally standard sr20det (running 14psi) with 3inch exaust from turbo & big intercooler & after market management 200kw(265hp) rear wheel hp running the standard turbo. Just on the t28, be carfull not to run more than 15 psi, as the ceramic turbine can shear itself loose. If you rebuid with a normal turbine, you can run about 19psi onstandard engine(well serviced etc..) without hassle. But the t28 is losing more than 30% efficiency at anything over 15 psi. PS a big intercooler is a must above 10.2psi(standard for OZ & europe). The jap model gets around 12 psi. Also again to be a pain here, make sure you get the sr20det with the variable timming. Of you choose the rb26, you have no chocie but to have the vvt. Finally forget the front drive hairdressers car the Prelude.(understeer) is there main feature. BMW expensive & not quite as bulletproof, unless you spend megabucks. S
Standard times for silvia
Oz/Europe 0-100km(62mph) is 6.3seconds(s14)6.5(s15)
Jap/NZ 0-100 is 5.9(s14) 5.7(s15)
Oz?europe 1/4 mile is 14.4(s14)14.7(s15)
Jap/NZ 1/4 mile is 13.9(s14)13.6(s15)
And the mighty gtr - R34 is 4.7 to 100 & 12.7 for 1/4 mile in a 1500kg car. Imagine that in your 240 that would weigh 1330 or so with the rb26

just go out and buy a 1991 Mazda RX-7 TII you won't regret it
with the rest of the money:
first throw in a short shifter, then do some engine work, upgrade the turbo, add intake and exhaust, upgrade suspension, then buy some new wheels and tires, should be able to cover that with 11 grand since you get all the work done free, you could even have some left over to do something like relocate the battery or custom make some front air ducts

oh and by the way mynismo, why waste 3 grand on paint? does drift signal orange paint give you like 100hp or something? didn't think so... what a waste
