Post 2002 Silverado

I have a 2002 Silverado with a 5.3 in it and I can't seem to get it to run. Some history on this truck, I bought it wrecked and had it running and it seemed to run well. While I was repairing the truck something came up and I had to move it out of the garage for a couple of days without I windshield in it. Well it rained over night and I did not have the dash covered. The truck has since dried out but I have not been able to get it to run. Here is what I have:

The engine will crank and fire like it wants to run but then dies right away. Generally reaches 1100-1400rpms.
Have around 60psi of fuel, had 48psi and then changed the fuel regulator.
Spark plugs have been changed as well as the gas in the fuel tank has been emptied and replentished with fresh fuel.
I don't have anything to read the codes from the computer with but I am guessing that will have to be the next place to go.

Any help is much appreciated.

Re: 2002 Silverado

It sounds like possibly a passlock fault. I'm not too sure about chev (i work for mazda) but most manufacturers use a module to run the passlock immobilizer and if it got wet then that could be causing problems. Does the security light flash after the truck stalls?

The "security" light does flash at times. When this has come on I unhooked the battery and reconnected it and it went away. This light does not flash all the time after I try to start it just occasionally.

Thanks,
Andy

Thumbs up Problem Solved

I just found out what the problem was, yes it does deal with the security system. Apparently the truck lost communication with the Body Control Module so it had to be reprogrammed to accept it. I had fuel pressure and ignition but the injectors were not working.

Here is how to reprogram the BCM if someone needs it.

First turn the key far enough to engage the starter and return it to the run position. Leave the key in the run position for about 10 minutes. The message center on the truck will blink back and forth from the Battery light to the Security light. At the end of ten minutes it will stay on Battery only.

The next step is to turn the key to off and they repeat this process 2 more times for a total of three times(30 minutes). After the third time the vehicle should start.

Thanks for the help!!
