The dealership where I bought my 1998 blazer wants $139.95 to change the fluid and filter. This is my first vehicle with 4 wheel drive and automatic transmission so I have never had this done before. Is this price about right or can do better somewhere else?
Thanks for any input. |

Re: cost of transmission service
It cost me $85 with tax at Jiffylube so it's not outragiously high.Anything done at the dealer is always a little more expensive.Do not be suprised if you get it done at the dealer that they will find something else wrong. It always seems anytime the dealer works on my vehicle they come up with some problem they just happen to notice.

does it have a drain plug, or do you have to drop the pan?
i know mine needs to be done, but i haven't checked to see if it has one. |

Re: cost of transmission service
To change the filter you have to drop the pan. There is no point changing the fluid if you gonna leave the dirty old filter in there.
