Upper tower bars on Accord
I want to add front and rear tower (strut) bars to my 92 Accord LX coupe. It has all stock suspension components except it is riding on 195/60R15 tires, and the 15" alloys from the 92 EX. It has not been lowered and the shocks and springs are original (as far as I know). How much will adding front and rear upper tower bars affect the cornering and handling of my car? Does the brand matter? How difficult are they to install????

i had the same set up when I started my suspension.
everything was stock at the time except for my brand new strut tower bar ![]() at first, I didn't notice anything when I took those turns. however, I tried it again, but this time with a much faster speed. I noticed a great difference!!! WHOA!!! I didn't know a bar could do so much. Basically I was taking a right turn and under faster speed, I could take it without cutting through so many lanes. NICE ![]() brand doesn't really matter. at least I don't think so. I got a simple on off of ebay.com for really cheap. They are easy to install. Just pop your hood and unscrew the bolts. Put the strut tower bar on and screw the bolts back. You're done. No need to lift the car or anything like that. ![]() If you have the extra cash, get a single piece unit such as neuspeed because it's one bar. The one I have is adjustable and has moving parts. My guess is that it's probably not as good as the single bar since there is a chance for it for flex and move. But that doesn't really bother me since I'm planning on taking it to the track

Would installing coilovers help with handling AND ride, or just one or the other? I want to maintain the normal ride height because I drive the car in the winter a lot and in the snow. Let me know what i could do to it to make it ride smoother and handle better.

that is a hard combo that you are trying to get.
it's a known fact that cars that are lowered tend to have a stiffer ride quality...nothing like stock. However, with the ride set up, you can come close. Becareful with which coilover system you get. I do not recommend getting any form of coilover sleeve system such as Shunk2, GroundControl, Arospeed, or many others that you find on ebay.com Those then to give a harsh ride quality. I had a set of Arospeed coilovers and I was not happy about them. However, in all the sets Shunk2 and GroundControl appear to be the best out of the bunch Coilover sleeves have a system where the springs they use is extremely short and extremely stiff. It's a bad combination if you are looking for a smooth ride quality. You will be better off getting lowering springs with adjustable struts. i put a frt upper strut brace on after lowering my ride with 500lbs springs and it was night and day i got the rear on my list but i'm going to vegas on friday and it'll have to wait till i come back
sway bars are another noticable mod good luck and becarefull i'm not yur mom but i pushed my ride so hard after the install that i developed a tendancy to drift thru turns because i can... and that can be a bad habit(just ask my worn out tires and busted tie rod ends!!!) andimout:evillaugh

if you have $550 you can buy Koni Yellows and use them this OEM springs. with Koni's you will be able to adjust from soft to stiff ride, plus if you use them with OEM springs you can even drop your car 1"-1 1/2". Koni's have different height perches, but they don't recommend to use lower perches with any springs but OEM ones.
