Lightbulb Diesel version

Can anyone tell me why they have not put that diesel version in the US Tacoma yet. I was wondering? Also wondering how long it would take me to burn up my engine like 3 4 hundred thousand and than put the diesil version in my self as a backyard project. If anyone knows where i can find that stuff to do it let me know.

Re: Diesel version

Toyota's engines are already great and reliable, there is no need.

The reason is because I the power and gas milage that you would gain. I drive the V6 now and get horrible gas milage. A diesel would last longer also and have a lot better gas milage. If you don't believe me test drive the 2004 jetta that thing sounds like a deep V6 and still gets 50+ gas milage on the highway.

And since they already have one I was wondering why they can't just at least try it out.

What do you consider horrible gas milage? I think anything over 17MPG is damn good for the V6. As for burning the 3.4 up I do business with a company that has a fleet of 4x4 V6 Tacos, some of the 96 and 97 models have 400K on them with very little or no problems.

Just take a flight to any other continent on earth and you will quickly see that we are virtually the only idiots driving around in gas (essence, petrol, etc.) powered toyota trucks(4Runners, Landcruisers, etc.) I can't wait to be the first one on my block to have an honest and for true diesel Toyota. Why? try 28 mpg in full time 4 wheel drive. Not bad eh. How bout over 30 on the highway towing your toys? We don't yet have the diesel here because they are a bit dirty for current CARB laws. But technology is constantly improving and the demand for diesels in this country is growing. Did you know that 4 out of 5 Toyotas world wide are diesel powered? And we make up that 20%!

Re: Diesel version

I saw a Late 80's toyota pickup (The body style before 89,90, etc.) And it had a diesel from the factory. We talked to the guy and people have offered him 10 grand for it, but he didn't want to give it up yet.
