Computer compatability 1990 Eclipse

I am trying to save a 1990 Eclipse, 2.0 5 speed- suspect computer,
and I just purchased a cheap 91 Plymouth Lazer (same as Mitsubishi Eclipse) parts car. The parts car has a 1.8 Automatic OD trans, trans is slipping, but the car runs, I am wondering if the computer will work, or does the distributorless coilpack engine and the distributor 1.8 require totally different computers?
I purchased a computer on Ebay for the 2.0 car, but later discovered it has no Eprom (what the heck is that), and may be not working due to that??? Until I read something about this whole Eprom dilemna, I had been thinking my CAS was bad, but changed that today with no results. Luckily I borrowed that from a friend, saved $400 on this part attempt. I had tested that by removing and spinning with my finger with the key on, no popping could be heard, so I guess that means I need a computer, or a CAS...? My 2.0 Eclipse will not give me engine problem codes to help me narrow down my problem, but I have no spark, no fuel pulse, although I do have pressure at the rail and apparent fuel pump function.
I replaced my battery with a brand new 700 cold cranking amp version, to rule out all the voltage and amperage concerns. Pretty soon I am going to have two misfit Eclipses resting in the driveway, unless I figure out how to mix them up and make one work. My feeling is that they both have some sort of potential easy fix, possibly, with electronical gadgets that may be malfunctioning.

Re: Computer compatability 1990 Eclipse

The auto tranny and 5 spd ECUs are not interchangeable if for nothing else than the fact that the two cars use different sized injectors (450cc for 5 spd, 390 for auto). The 90 ECU also differes from the 91-94. See www.vfaq.com for the differences, I believe you can swap two wires on the harness to make it work. The problem as you describe it does seem to be the ECU, and it is common for 1g ECUs to shit the bed, especially the early ones. All you 1g guys should be replaceing your caps, or having it done Again, see the vfaqs for more info on that.
