Does anyone know whether the DVD ROM player on the 2003 Navigation System can be configured to play normal DVD's?

I wanted to know the same thing, I figured since it is a dvd rom it should be able to read DVD's. Maybe there is some sort of chip I can add or remove?

You are the first to reply. I have meant to ask the Dealer, however I suspect there answer albeit reasonable will incllude the safety factor of making this player a DVD player. If you find anything out let me know.
