hey guys...i have a noob question but, im a noob and i dont know what anything is yet so bear with me. what are test pipes and what do they do? i think im pretty smart im just ignorant right now about pretty much everything that has to do with cars but im really interrested. NOT because i saw the fast and the furious, but because a couple of my friends got into it and it looks like something i would enjoy. so thanks to anybody who could help me along.

Have fun getting into cars, lol. It's very enjoyable... it took a hold of my life, and now I can't hold a conversation with any of my friends because they know so little. *sigh* Anyway, test pipes replace the catalytic converter in a car's exhaust system. It's basically just a straight pipe that flows straight through. Hope that helped.

We all gotta start somewhere. Don't let the fear of asking make you ignorant.
evopanop is right about the tp. Check your own laws for the legality though, I hope you don't live in Cali lol. If you do have emissions testing in your state, just bolt on the tp but keep your cat and when you have to go in for testing, replace the tp with the cat. It's a fairly easy switch and the tp is well worth the little $$ it costs.-Jeff edit: Location: Texas hmmm, why didn't I see that before .
