need some help.

Alright. I just had a new ECU put in my car. It cut off on me while i was driving it a couple weeks ago and wouldnt start back up. The shop replaced they ECU. They said that they didnt know of anything else it could be. It has been running fine. It hasnt cut off and not started back up yet. The only problem I am having is that when i push in the clutch to stop at a stop sign or something the rpms drop so low that the car almost cuts off. the lights on the dash come on it goes so close to cutting off. The idle has also seemed kinda sporatic. it idles higher sometimes and it might go down and the go back up and then go down and settle. i was thinking maybe it needs a new IAC. i'm not really sure though. I hate to buy a new IAC and it not fix it. anybody have any ideas about what the problem could be?
Thanks,

Re: need some help.

maybe when your ecu went it somehow fucked your timing...? Possibly torqued on the timing belt somehow? Sporratic idle can happen if the timing belt is too loose(speaking from experience). Check the tensioner.

Re: need some help.

Yeah, that sounds to me like an IAC, mine started doing that after I fixed my TPS sensor... though I haven't changed my IAC, b/c my car isn't running right now... but I'd suggest getting that checked... Ebay will be a good place to find one cheap... you can even get one from a DSM...

Try cleaning the IAC before replacing. It may just be gunked up.

Re: need some help.

I wanted to suggest that, but I didn't know if it was possible, and/or what to use... I figured that I'd look less stupid with my mouth closed... lol

Re: need some help.

I'm leaning towards the IAC... b/c that's a common problem... I'm not able to tell you straight up... as I'm no mechanic, but opinions from car owners can usually be just as right... and IMHO I'd say the IAC... use some intake cleaner/carb cleaner... and see if that helps first

Re: need some help.

yea..i checked the MAS...i talked to a really good mechanic and he says he thinks it is the IAC too. He said if i wanted to though that he would put it on diagnostics just to make sure.
