1995 S-10 Blazer, Ignition Locked

I shut my Blazer off and went to start it, but the ignition and steering are locked and I can't do anything.
Does anybody have any ideas that can help me?

Will the ignition lock cylinder turn?
If not, you could have something as simple as a worn key (have a new key cut from the lock codes available from your GM dealer...don't have someone duplicate your worn key...that defetes the purpose.) or you may need to replace the ignition lock cylinder

If you go to the dealer for your key codes, take proof of ownership with you and your drivers license...we don't give out that info or cut keys without it

You may have a bad shifter cable. If you can't get the shifter all the way seated in the park position then the ignition cylinder will not return to the lock position and you won't be able to get the key to come out.Try holding the shifter handle with pressure toward the park position while turning the ignition off and if it's not bound up too bad you should be able to remove the key.

I can tell you exactly what it is, same happened on my 1997 blazer. Faulty ignition switch, there is a tech bulletin on it. Had to take mine to the chevy place, cost around $300.00!
