wacked out distributor

Well i thought this was just plain weird.

I'm headin out on a trip from kelowna down to vancouver a good 5 or 6 hour drive a little less if you really push your luck. So i did the whole pre trip preparation thing and i start headin down the highway. I'm about two hours in and then all of a sudden my car starts flucuating in speed so i pull over and it dies on me. I tried starting her up again and it would turn but just wouldnt start. Then like the 5th time i turn it it starts and im thinkin good now i can get back home and see what the hell is the matter. My car had other ideas. so as soon as i start to pull away it dies again. Well i said screw it and called a tow truck and got my car towed back home. I went through all the easy checks like the fuses and ecu codes and whatnot and came up with nothing. So i decided to check the distributor and the screw that was holding the rotor in fell out. I just though this was really weird since the rotor and distributor were changed not too long ago and and the have a locking washer on the screw and i made sure everything was put together tighly and correctly. I'm just happy isnt my fuel pump or something a little more involved.

Re: wacked out distributor

The screw for the rotor falling out is a very common problem after repalcing the rotor. Did you replace the rotor with a Honda part or aftermarket from an auto parts store?

If you didn't get the rotor from Honda, its likely the new screw(if available) did not come with thread locker on the screw like the one from Honda does.

Simple fix, run to the auto part store & pick up some thread locker. Apply a tiny amount of it to the screw & re-tighten or it will just keep falling out.

Not that ever happen to me
