Headlight wires
Does anyone know which wires that come from the headlight are which? I believe the black wire is the common ground, however there is a wire with a green strip and a wire with a white stripe.
I own a 2000 XE 4x4. |

On my Canadian model the red/yellow wire is my high-beam. The low is red/silver.
I would always use a wire tester to make sure anyway. |

Too bad mine isn't Canadian
Thanks Schlud. Mine isn't Canadian. However, I forget about using the tester (smacks forehead). Thanks again.:smoker2:

ElectroKen's answer.
The black wires are indeed grounds. For the left headlight:
low beam = red high beam = red/green stripe right headlight: low beam = red/black stripe high beam = red/white stripe I'll let you figure out if he means left when facing the front of the truck or when sitting in the drivers seat. |

What are you wiring up??? I just wired my offroad light to my highbeams. I have a 3-way switch so I can turn them off all the time, on or on w/ highbeams. It's nice to be able to cut off all your offroad lighting with one switch when you get out of the truck to watch someone conquer an obstical.

DRL's
Without getting into the debate of the usefulness of DRL's that is what I am wiring up. However, I was unable to make it work correctly so I will be swinging by the local stereo install shop to see what they will quote to have it done there. :smoker2:

The Canadian DRL's are the highbeam bulb running under low power.

Wiring diagram
The wiring diagram for this module says that I hook up 2nd wire to the low beam and 1 wire to the high beam.

Well, after taking it to a stereo install shop that I trust implicitly. I found out that there is to much wattage for the module I bought. Don't ask me to go into details because I don't understand it all. What I do know is that it will not work. I think turning on the headlights manually will be a lot cheaper even though I will go through a few more headlamp bulbs it will still be as effective.:smoker2:

Just out of curiosity, why do you want to run DRLs. Personally I don't like them.

DRL
Because I want to and I feel that is an easy way to make the truck more visible.

I guess the reason I don't like them is because the town I came from in FL was over half retired people. They seemed to have the tendancy to drive around at night with just the DRLs
. I guess they didn't realized that their headlights were not on, nor their tail lights.
