Unhappy Dropping a European '98 Civic VTi

Lo lads,
First post here so bear with me...

I have a '98 Irish Civic VTi Saloon/Sedan and want to drop it and get some Kahn RSS's at the same time...

Problem...Roads in Ireland are bad and I dont want a slipped disc in my back, so how much do I drop...the VTi is dropped 15mm by default over a std. Civic....

I got 60k Miles on the clock..do I need new dampers also?
I only hear good things about eibach, so I may go with them..

Any info is good!

Thanks,
James.

It is good you are thinking about road conditions and being realistic about your suspension. The roads are bad by me too, I went with a sport/race setup that sometimes I regret. But for your purposes you have 1 up on most, the VTI has stronger dampers than the standard version, which will allow you to use two springs in my opinion. The Eibach sportlines, and or the Neuspeed softsport. You dambers will work well with either, the neuspeeds a bit better because thier rates are not as aggresive. The Eibachs are a bit sportier, so in the long haul (80k miles) you may want to look at new dampers. It will make a world of differenece.

James, the only Eibach springs available in Europe are the Pro-kit springs, the sportlines are US only. Though you could order them from an online store in the US if you really want.
I had the pro-kit setup for a while but the dampers I had them on were too soft so my car was a bit bouncy. Good spring though. I'm now riding on KONI true coilovers, expensive but the difference is night and day.
What size rims are you getting? The pro-kit will probably only drop the car another 15mm if it's dropped 15mm already.

Ps. Have you changed your timing belt yet, 60k miles?

Hi James. I had the Kahn RSS on my car for about 1 week before two of them had dents. The alloy Kahn are using is too soft in my opinion. Another thing to be careful off, is that Kahn's are sold in a +35 offset for Honda Civics. You will have problems with the tyres rubbing when you lower it.

Apart from that, they are a lovely wheel and suit the saloon perfectly

OK, I just found a pic of my car with the Kahn RSS on them before it was lowered. It will give you an idea of what they look like on the saloon

Hi
Ive been trying to find out what I can about the avalability of springs and shocks in the U.K. and Ive been struggling quite bad. My car is a 3rd Gen Accord and some of the springs that are made for the u.s. market are just not sold in the u.k. and others are differant spec's (poundage, height, etc) so it isnt a good idea to just use what they use in europe or the u.s. without talking to the spring/shock peoples tech support. I rang koni (the make of shocks Ive gone for) and they were very helpfull yet some of the others were a real pain. So reserch what you buy before you buy them.
