Big Skyline!!

I've been looking at this site for a while now, and have noticed you all seem to like modelling skylines. Thought I'd post these two pics for you to look at.

The Falken car is the 1/24th Tamiya kit, the big one is a 1/12th Fujimi kit I found on Ebay. All in it's cost me over Ģ100 to get it!!

haha......oh dang! that thing looks humongous!!! It would be pretty cool to build one of those. EXTREME detail in them would be cool. Who made that giant skyline anyways??

Don't you know, it's 10 hp for every sticker, 50 hp extra for every additional inch of rear spoiler behond stock height.

Just a friendly warning 2 anyone who is keen on buying the 1/12 fujimi kit

sure they may be big, but the detail isn't that great, its basically just a blown up scale of the tamiya 1/24

my one had stickers tht don't even stick, the doors don't close properly, and the bonnet doesn't sit correctly

also the screws that u use 2 screw the wheels on, and the engine, and for that matter every thing else... they shred the plastic, if u screw and then unscrew, and then screw back a part, the screws become useless.... so now i'm screwed and i hav 2 use glue

Fujimi should of let tamiya do this kit in the 1/12 scale, at least then i would of had half the amount of stress putting it togeather.

Sure Martin, it's not as good as if Tamiya had produced it, but it's not a "bad" kit!! I've had screws in and out with no probs, and the doors and hood need some work, but only very minor work. Remember this kit came out in 1990!!

I think the reason your stickers didnt stick is because of the grease on everything. I literally had to put the whole kit in the bath filled with warm water and soap. It surely is the most oily kit I've ever built!

Thatīs true

Yes once I was about to buy the "Axes" version of it , and it didnīt convinced me much. It remember me the style of Monogram in big scales the like of 1/12 or 1/8 , that many of that cars of them not even opened their doors. For a $100 kit I even want in it girl that appears in the catalogue picture of the real car.
Ah ! the Fujimi system of crewing things , sucks! ,It happened to me with the `91 Prelude Si VTEC.Itīs just that it doesnīt make sense. And seeing the heads of the screws arenīs precisely aesthetic, or their holes.

Yes I was onece about to buy the 'AXES' version of it.
The 1/12 fujimi Nissan Skyline GT-R that NigelR32 and ihave got are the AXES Absorbing X Excite Series <---- what ever the F!@% that means

Just a question nigelR32 have u tried screwing the wheels in yet, with the suspension screwed in and everything?

If so then maybe the kit I got was a dodgy one.

When i first went to screw the wheels in for a test fit, it screwed in nicely, and the wheels held in. But as soon as i went to screw in the wheels for the second time, the front left screw hole that is the home for the screw that makes the wheels hold in had shredded, making the screw useless, so now I'm just thinkin about how i can resolve the problem.

I put the entire kit in a massive tray of soapy water (parts still on the trees) before i started painting, and the painting of the motor, and dashboard parts went sweet, but once I painted the seats and tried to stick the seat trim on, it bubbled and creased, so i decide to cut the trim in to 2 bits, and after spending 30mins of pissing around with the sticker, the sticker had lost its stickyness, so in the end i have just decided to paint the trim.

Also their is a component of the rear suspension on my model that was made too long for the actual part. I'm not too sure about the kits in general, but that was the case for mine.

Thanx for the reply Martin,

I havent tried doing the wheels or the seat trims yet, but I will remember what you have told me,thanx for the advice!!

I've finished all the suspension now, and it all went together sweetly, no parts too long or any probs at all really!!

Bye for now
