Alrite guys, im a plain noob and I need some desperate help. I just got 17" rims for my 2001 Accord lx 4 cly. car and now I need some lowering to be done and I got some questions for all you pros to answer. First, what kinda things do I need? What brand for springs/coilovers, camber kit, shocks? Do I need anything else? Around how much should everything cost? Thanks.

Tokico makes springs to go with their struts. So, that might be an option. How low do you want to drop your car? Is it for show or racing? Camber kits are needed if you plan on dropping your suspension over 2 inches. Camber and toe-in changes when you change your suspension height so will want to do a wheel alignment afterwards. Cost? Depends on what you want and how much you can spend. Look at the other threads on springs/coilovers/struts. |

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking about lowering my car like 1.5-2 inches. As for the cost, I'm thinking about no more than 700 bucks. Also, I have a question about rubbing. What is rubbing and will i get it? How do you fix rubbing? Other than tokico, what other brands do you suggest? Thanks

Lowering 01 Accord, need help on what i need. Thanks !
I also have another question. If I just get new springs and use the stock stocks, how long will the shocks last? Is it good for the car?

Your best option is fully adjustable coilovers. Next best would be a matched spring/shock package - like H&R's Cup Kit. Otherwise Neuspeed, H&R, & Eibach are good for springs - Koni, KYB, Bilstein, Tokico are good for shocks. Dont use your stock shocks with any lowering springs - who cares how long they will last(1-3months or more)just do it right while its all apart. Thats a waste of money if your not doing the work yourself
. If your doing the work yourself then its a waste of time.17" wheels? thats not enough information to figure out if your gonna rub. If your just installing 17" wheels with a drop, your undercarriage will drag - put some tires on those wheels. Whats the tire size + wheel width + backspacing? Rubbing is when your tires rub on the inner fender or suspension during turning or during suspension travel. If you use the right size tires & do not drop too much, you have no worries. Don't forget the bump stops. As Akina posted - only a camber kit should be needed when dropping more than 2". The only way too find out is either during the alignment or in a couple thousand miles when your tires begin to wear more on the inside edge. Recommended tire sizes: 225/45R17 0.01 Inches shorter than stock tire 215/45R17 0.36 Inches shorter than stock tire 215/50R17 0.48 Inches taller than stock tire STOCK WHEEL WIDTH: 6.0" STOCK TIRE SIZE: 195/65R15 DIAMETER: 25.0" SECTION WIDTH: 7.7" SIDEWALL HEIGHT: 5.0" MINIMUM RIM WIDTH: 5.5" MAXIMUM RIM WIDTH: 7.0" REVOLUTIONS PER MILE: 808 SELECTED TIRE SIZE:215/45R17 DIAMETER: 24.6" SECTION WIDTH: 8.5" SIDEWALL HEIGHT: 3.8" MINIMUM RIM WIDTH: 7.0" MAXIMUM RIM WIDTH: 8.0" REVOLUTIONS PER MILE: 820 IF YOU TRAVELED 60 MPH WITH THIS TIRE INSTALLED ON YOUR VEHICLE YOUR SPEEDOMETER WOULD READ 60.9 MPH Backspacing:40mm +/- couple mm Find more information like that @ www.whalentire.com |

just did the suspension over on my 2000 accord. put eibach springs and tokico illumina shocks. I have 18 in wheels, and have no rubbing at all. Ride still feels like it did before i put them in. no bounce, still have decent clearance in the front and back
