14.97@95mph....(.977 reaction)
First night at a real drag strip last night. I first ran a 15.22 with a 1.02 reaction time. I need more practice at the tree, that's for sure. there are some other numbers that i have no idea what they mean maybe someone can help me out.
Reaction: .977 I1: 2.424 I2: 6.454 I3: 9.764 MPH (I3): 75.116 I4: 12.523 ET: 14.975 MPH: 95.298 Win <1st> Mov: .218 Does anyone have any idea what the "I" numbers are? and the MoV number?

R/T
60' 330' 1/8 mile MPH 1000' 1/4 mile MPH So your should look like this. R/T .977 60' 2.424 330' 6.454 1/8 mile 9.764 MPH 75.116 1000' 12.523 1/4 mile 14.975 MPH 95.298 Your 60 foot times are really hurting you there. Did you have a lot of wheel spin?

They let you drag race on a wet track?!
... or are you talking baout the water they put down for burnouts? If you are not on drag tires, go around the water box. I would not worry about reaction times too much ... they have nothing to do with ET. The reaction time only factors in when you are tryting to beat the other driver.

the track was wet cause everyone before me went through it. Most everyone had street tires and were still going through it. I did drive around the water hole but it didn't really matter much. track was still wet.

Re: 14.97@95mph....(.977 reaction)
reaction time is important.
try to stage deeper for better results. taht means just barely breaking the beam. |

MustangRoadRacer, you have some info backwards there. I hope this clears it up:
First off, reaction time has nothing to do with ET. You could sit at the green light for 2 hours and still run a 12 second ET. Secondly, barely breaking the beams is shallow staging, not deep staging. Deep staging is going as far into the lights (as far deep) as possible without losing the stage. Staging deep only benefits your R/T time and a slight edge in beating your opponent... it negatively affects your ET. Shallow staging will give you a worse R/T, but give you up to about 6" of rolling time to get your 1/4 mile time started ... Than means you get a slight running start. Therefore you already have speed present when the ET timer starts.

Re: 14.97@95mph....(.977 reaction)
well, I didn't say it effected et. I said it was important. please refrain from putting words in my mouth, my foot is usually in there and leavs little room for anything else.
In addition to this, I said he should stage deep and I meant it. beating your opponent is what most racers go for. yes I did mispeak in reference to the beams, I apologize. I meant barely IN the beams. |

It appears that the original poster's interest is in improving his ET. So claiming that R/T is important and further suggesting staging deep for better results is not correct. MustangRoadRacer, I am only interested in conveying accurate information on here to benefit someone else. I have no interest in squabbling. I never put words in your mouth.

Re: 14.97@95mph....(.977 reaction)
Thanks for your help JekylandHyde. I recently started racing at an 1/8 mile track not long ago. The info you have posted here will help me a bit. I appreciate it.
As for 90redgt the Mov number seems to be a lot like my ticket. I don't have it on me currently but if you were racing someone else, I believe it tells you who won and by exactly how much...don't get me to lyin' I'm just a chick that doesn't know anything.

Re: 14.97@95mph....(.977 reaction)
your reaction time only puts you in front of your apponent. your time doesnt start till you break your light beam across the starting line .

Re: 14.97@95mph....(.977 reaction)
Yeah but since my ride is bone stock i need all the help I can get. Right now my roomie is beating my ass at the track by a tenth of a second and she has a better reaction time. IT irks me that I won first place in an even-up shoot out and she turned around and toasted my car. One day, she's mine. I know I can catch that car if I can get off the line just a bit quicker....I hope.
