For the masses!!!

Did you, in retrospect, become what you set out to be when you were growing up?

To give an example, when I was little, all I wanted to be was a commercial artist. I used to be one of the top artists in the state of Illinois growing up, and that's all I aspired to do was draw. Even if it were comic books. Unfortunately, somewhere along the way, I got sidetracked with demands from different places, and I ended up working at Amazon.com following a 'big butt and a smile'!

I was heavily into drawing which in turn got specified to drafting. Which then lead to my desire to become an Aeronautical Engineer. Unfortunately due to poor assistance from the college I attended, my desires were squashed by the amount of denial letters from major and some not so major aero companies saying that they will keep me on file or I am not experienced enough. I just got out of fuckin' college for crying out loud!

Now I turned out to be what I always didn't want, a bitter person with the backing to prove it.

When I was 4-9, I wanted to be a veterinarian (sp). When I was 10, I started working on cars, now I want to do something involving them as a job.

Smile

When I was younger I liked to draw and design things. I also liked to build models. And I really liked to build with legos. So here I am, in an engineering school, trying to become a mechanical engineer.

Sorry to hear about the FOAD letters. I know the feeling, its tough to break into a field that values experience above everything else.

I still am gripping at the hopes that the Ferrari Formula One team will fire Shumey and hire me in his place
or that the WRC Subaru team will give me a shot at the special stage on the Africa Ralley!
or Nissan will give me a factory backed SE-R Spec V to AutoX
Yup I wanna be a race car driver when I grow up!

I actually did! Reviewing even what was written in my high school yearbook confirmed this.

My father is a mechanical Design Engineer, my grand father a tool maker, and I am a mechanical engineer, with full tool making certs, robotics, and production efficientcy expert.

Now I am having a mid life crisis and am looking to change careers !
