beef up the current motor or swap?
I am looking into doing some engine mods to my car. I have heard mixed stories from everyone about how the f23a1 won't handle much boost and recommend an integra/prelude swap. well, I am not looking to put a turbo in my accord... I'll save that for when I get my RX-8. anyways, I was wondering if should swap out my F23a1 for a stock inetgra engine, and build the integra engine up to higher compression, but at what point does higher compression actually hurt the performance? I am looking for a bit more torque, and some more HP, mostly torque, as that's what's important in the acceleration of any vehicle.. I have looked into this for a while, and the hassle of a turbo, from others stories, and the trouble they have, and all the equipment that goes into it scares me a bit, and I want to do this mostly by myself. I was thinking of boosting compression to about 12-14:1, from the original 9.3:1. i dunno how this will change tuning, and I imagine I will need a piggyback ECU to control fuel/air ratios, and bigger fuel pump, as well as larger injectors.. but I was wondering what if all you knew, or should I just wait to get my RX-8 (not for a while)?

Re: beef up the current motor or swap?
First of all the f23 is not a bad motor but there is not a whole lot of options for it like other engine series. But basically all motor is the safest and most reliable way to go instead of turbo or supercharger. But since you have an accord do not put an integra motor in there, thats a big car for such a little motor. The integra's motor wont have enough torque stock to pull your car anywhere. The best thing which is pretty much direct bolt in for your car is a h22. I know everyone says go with h22 but who can blame them. Its a kick ass motor and a very good one to work in your a little slightly heavy accord. B/c I know it doesn't way like no 2600lbs like my civic. But if u want you can wait to get your RX-8, if you like rotary that is?

well it's rated at 3285 lbs. curbweight. and, well the engine is bigger than your civic. I like the f23a1 it's a nice little engine, but I want a little more room on the RPM's maybe get it up to 7500-8000 rpms at redline. I know I should do some other stuff first that might free up some more power from the F23. but I'm thinking it would be easier to drop in a bigger motor with already more power, and modify that one, other than wasting money on the f23 only to have it be replaced later by a H22.. I'd rather keep the f23 as a backup if the h22 goes awol. I am going for all motor. I just like to have the response of the N/A engine, to pull my ass out of bad snow conditions, or whatever comes my way up here.
