88 rx-7 intake questions

I put on a new intake on my rx-7. I got rid of all that standard intake crap and just have the regulator and the cone. Is that regulator letting maximum air flow or not? Do i need to have the regulator on their for the car to work. I dont know too much about the intake system so anything would help. Thanks guys.

Matt

The regulator your speaking of is it the Mass Airflow Sensor (MAS)
It has a flapper inside it that opens and closes.

That is what the cars computer uses to figure out how much air is coming into the intake and how much fuel it will need. So yes, it is necessary.

Yes it is resrictive unfortunatly but as I said necessary.
