tried to race one of those new nissan titans in my '04 2wd shortcab sportside but he MUST have had some mods because he leaped out ahead of me and kept on pulling away. power to weight should be about the same so I'm a little steamed if his was stock? any one else tangle with one of them?

That sucks. I was looking at the new Titans at the dealership the other day and they are suppose to be pretty hot little truck stock. Rumor is they blew that Dodge Hemi away in some road tests?

Hey your truck really wieghs about 4600 the ford lightning has the lightest RCSB truck wieght and thats 4610 so yours is probably about 4650-4710 and you have 290hp at 5200rpm and 325trq at 4000rpm<---- this means your peak torque hits at 4000rpm. Now the titan has 305hp at 5000rpm and 380trq at 3600rpm these stats would mean that the titan hits both of it peak torque and horsepower before you do so yes its much faster!!! He should have taken you on the launch then on top end as well!!!!

With a 04 5.3 what is the best method of getting low end torque from a supercharger or a turbo? and which kit is the best for low end power? or other mods to get it too?

I was watching spike TV tonight 5-29-04 . They had a side buy side for all the big trucks. That new nissan titan took #1 , 305hp ,7.9sec,$33K it was the fastest, lowest cost, and most fun to drive acording to this test.

A supercharger with an intercooler will give you the performance increase you desire. More Performance has a kit with heads and a cam also www.moreperformanceinc.com . I bolted on headers, intake, exhaust and a power programmer to my 5.3 and there isn't that much more power. Live and learn.
