fuel pump whines

I have noticed that on my 99 2500 crew cab, the fuel pump has started to whine VERY noticably. Has anyone else had this problem or am I just special?

Re: fuel pump whines

Nah that happens. 97-99 seem to make high pitched noises that can be as loud as the exhaust.

I changed mine at 38,000 on my 1998 Z71, bought a OEM pump module, and it whinned loud from day 1. I'm now at 88,000. Don't worry about it untill u are dead on the road.( I mean your truck, not you dead on the road).

Re: fuel pump whines

How long has it been since you changed the fuel filter? Mine was whining pretty bad and after I changed the fuel filter it was quiet...

Re: fuel pump whines

GM doesn't make things like they used to. I have the original fuel pump at 284k and I frequently run it below 1/4 tank..
