screeching noise when starting

my 94 manual pathy has been making a screeching noise when I start it.
I had the starter replaced just about a year ago... and I still occasionally have the same problem when starting the car... it will make the clicking noise and after a few attempts it will start.
I just had auto zone test my battery and alternator (both fine) however when he tested my alternator and had me rev the engine to 2000mph the screeching was unbearably loud that I was afraid to rev anything past 1000

any ideas??

Have you had the belts checked? Did the guy from Auto Zone give you any ideas?

Re: screeching noise when starting

Have your idler pulley bearings replaced. When they are cold and old they will not turn causing the belt to slip on that pulley no matter how tight the belt is. This is very fast and cheap for the do it yourselfer.
About $8 bucks!

Yup, either the A/C idler pulley is shot or you need new belts.
