The love of an automobile . . . what stimulates, cultivates, or creates it?
What about an automobile makes it desirable? Is it in the swooping lines of the dash . . . the solid construction of the exterior? Is it the price of ownership that makes an vehicle an object of desire and not derision? Define, if you can, the essence that makes a Ferrari the work of art that we know it to be. Or, if you are daring . . . describe the appeal of a Porsche. Put into words the primal urge of an automotive enthusiast that we call love for all things automotive . . . If it were sold in a bottle . . . what would it be called? |

Well for me, it would be called "Power".
The ability to convey it, without saying a word. To be able to get the recognition without having to do anything to back it up. For me, a car is just that. I have my preferences, but I love all cars in general. Foreign or Domestic, there is always something to find to like in an automobile. For me, I am like a wolf in sheep's clothing. I like having the edge, but not for everyone to know it. A car that can look good, and drive better, will get me everytime. Smooth acceleration, strong stance and commanding presence all play a part in the desire to have that special auto. Ferrari's, Porsche's, Jag's and all others possess one element or the other. Some possess all of the above. But what makes it stand out more for me, is when I can have that same prestige, without having to spend all that money. For if I can have a car that can perform the same way a Ferrari, Lamborghini, Jaguar, etc. Then I'm already ahead of the game. To modify my car and get it to those levels where I can compete with them, makes it all worth while. I know this sounds corny but, I like being incognito. I like having that mystery around me. I don't like people knowing what I have. I love it when people "think" (and there's a reason I put it in quotes) they have something over me. Then when you let the cat out of the bag, the expression of my opponent when he says "What The Fuck!!", makes it even more all the worth while.

If it were me....
I don't know? I think it's just everything about them. I love the looks of a Ferrari (as well as many other things), the axle-bending power and torque of a viper, and the name of a MB or Bimmer. Luxury I'm not so big on, but mostly I think I just like going fast.
