|
Can someone give me instructions on how to use microsol
i have just bought two bottles of microsol red, as i am trying to cover a hood in sas carbon decal. how much microsol do i use, and does it go on the top of the decal or underneath the decal? am inthe dark as to what to do people, please help asap

You have to brush some microset (the blue bottle) all over the area that you want to cover, then you place your decal like you would normally, when the decal is in place (make sure IT IS in good place) apply the microsol with a soft brush on your decal, after that DON'T TOUCH IT, don't even look at it. just leave it there and wait until it's completely dry, your decal should've taken the shape of you hood. If you see wrinkle or air bubbles poke it with a sharp cutter and apply some microsol again.

only one more thing, use microsol only if you need dont use it for every decal cause this liquid softens very much the decals and it may cause them to broke, so you must be very carefull and IMO if you dont to use it, dont use it, but if you do... little, see what happens, and if you need use more, dont use a lot at the begining

cheers guys, i am gonna have a go in a second as i have to go out for a bit, so will stop me playing with it, lol.

I use the two products in conjunction w/each...Micro Set (blue bottle) goes on the part first (smells like white vinegar), then after the decal is in place, I use Micro Sol if necessary. If the decal goes on well, and conforms using a hot towel dipped in hot water, Micro Sol may be unnecessary.
If you do use Micro Sol to get the decal to conform, you may also try heating/drying the decal as it sets w/a hand held hairdryer.

well i had a go last night and it came out ok, there is one crease where the decal ruffled up, but i will probably just spray it all with tamiya smoke to darken it off and seal in the decal, other than that i love the stuff, hehehehe, its amazing. i can see lots more carbon bits in the future. especialy on my up coming enzo

Yes, microset is necesary to set the decal on place, well, necesary.... either microset or microsol are, but.... helps
 So... you should use microset, but if you think to use it for the harnesses decals if you dont use photoetched or anything else, you MUST varnish the seat glossy before, apply microset, the decal, microsol if its necesary and after you can varnish semigloss or flat, it also is a must for the rear wings of GT's like Astra phoenix or so, you paint the wing with glossy, or flat and varnish glossy after, the same process as seat, and after this you varnish semiglossy, you'll never been able to see the decal mark if you do this well  and also the varnish protects a flat paint cause if you use microset directly.... sometimes it leaves a spot, it doesnt happens with glossy surface, but microset helps to place the decal in position, I hope this helps
