Revell parts replacement.

I just put some replacement parts in my bin, and for some reason i don't understand this.

Shipping and Handling: $5.00
Parts Total: $5.00

They said that we only have to pay for shipping of the replacement parts. So i guess the total for chassis will be 10 bucks including shipping? If so, then that's a rip off. I can add 2 bucks and go buy a new kit in a store.

I think the parts total is the "Total price" the parts are free, you only pay s/h from what I remember.

"Free" is a relitive term here. Revell charges $3.00 S/H for parts in the US. I just ordered a replacement hood for a Civic(read AGHHHH post ) anyway the box had a total of .60 cents to ship. So where does the rest of the $2.40 go? Right in their pockets. It cost me $2.40 for that hood, Im sure of that...

YEs it goes right in their pockets, but you have to look at it from their side. Everybody could just ask for replacements every time they broke or screwed up a part. Once again a case of the less than honest blowing it for the honest guy.

Where does the kit that donated its hood to you come from? Right out of their pocket. Don't think that when you order a replacement part, they just tell the production line to bust out one more part that magically finds its way into a box and on its way to you. They break up kits (though, to be fair, probably kits that are flawed pretty badly, and they only apportion the salvageable parts) to get those parts. And when you ask for a hood, a wheel, a brake lever, whatever, someone has to go find that part, cut it away from the rest of the sprue, bring it the shipping department where someone has to wrap it up, package it and send it out. You're paying shipping and handling. And in a company as large as Revell, to keep the cost of kits down, the special handling is a pain in the ass, so it will cost a bit more than you would think.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Revell parts replacement.

Well said. Businesses who do the right thing and provide replacement parts for FREE for those of us who f**k things up, should be praised for their actions. So what if they charge for handling - the figure they hit you with would only go part of the way to recover the costs involved in doing what Willimo highlighted above.

Sometimes it is beneficial to look at things from the other side before making a rash statement. To paraphrase Harper Lee "walk a mile in another man's shoes...."

This is so offtopic guys
I finally ordered couple parts, i think the total was 5 bucks. And that actually was my question, do they charge the parts and the shipping, or just the shipping.
