question about turbocharging the LS vs NA GSR

What kind of horsepower would a 94 LS turbo with straight through exhaust put up. What about a mildly modded NA GSR.... and what kind of 1/4 times would each put up. Im trying to decide whether to get a GSR and go NA build up or get a LS and go turbo with a lil bit of internals... probably just cams though. thanx for the help

Running 12 PSI with 3'' catless exhaust system, and Hondata you should get about 275-300 HP out of the B18B1.
N/A B18C1 would require building it with high compression pistons, and a N20 system might get you the same HP for the same price as the turbo.
But remember, you can always build the internals on the LS later, and up the boost to make 400+ WHP. With Boost there is no limit. My vote is the LS.

Yeah thanx, and sry bout that

Ok i understand the turbo LS vs the NA GSR... ive read around in the forums, and some say turbocharging the GSR is a real pain in the ass and the GSR tranni is not as good for it as the LS and the high compression is bad... and then ive read that turbocharging the GSR is the way to go... can anyone help me out with that?

Well ppl are under the misconsept that sense the gsr already has 28hp more than the LS that naturally it will still have more power when turbo charged. How ever 5they don't consider the fact that the LS has a better compresion ratio for turbo charging and that the Ls will hold 4psi more boost than the GSR stock for stock. The LS tranny is better b/c it lets the turbo spool longer and you are under full boost for a longer period of time. Short gear ratios are terrible for turbo cars you have no time to use the power. Also the gsr's cam profiles are not really suited for turbo either. Turbo cars need a high lift and short duration cam profile and the vtec profile of the B18C has too long of duration and not enough lift. Stock for stock the turbo LS will be a much better car and faster too.

Hye thanx alot

Hey Thanx alot that helps clarify things soo much. Looks like ill be going with the LS... becasue im attached to the idea of having a turbo under my hood. When Some lil bitch in a stock civic pulls up beside you at a light and revs his engine and hes just grinnin from ear to ear. Then you nail it and he hears that distinct whistle and has a look on his face like "oh shit" its just priceless

stock for stock, yes the ls is easier and less of a hassle to turbo.... however, if you are planning on spending the money to turbo it in all likely hood you'll eventually spend the dough to rebuild in which case you're better off with the gsr... it isn't hard to turbo to a vtec motor provided it is tuned properly... just my two cents.

I would go with LS.....better compression ratio for turbo, LS tranny is good for turbo due to longer gear ratio so it keep it spoiled longer for max power.....And if you decide later to make more mods in your motor for more power, you'll get more out of an LS than GSR.....
