996 Auto Second to Third Gear Shift Hesitation
Hi,
I have a 2000 996 Cabriolet with Tiptronic. In Drive mode, under light to moderate acceleration from a standing start (default is a 2nd gear start) the engine revs to 2300 rpm, then drops back as if it were about to shift to third, but does not, then continues to increase revs to somewhere in the 2400-2500 rpm range and then shifts into 3rd. I've taken it to my dealer and complained about this problem a couple of times, but they insist that the car is driving normal. They have mentioned that the torque converter kicks in at this rpm, but I'm not buying this since when I drive the car in Tiptronic mode, the car does not exhibit this problem. Anybody out there familiar with the problem? Any suggested remedies? Thank You. |
