Your thoughts needed.

Ok I have a question for anyone who wants to reply.

I have a 4g4d with 270,000. The motor has one small oil leak and the radiator has a small crack which I am in the process of fixing.

Ok the deal is. I am wondering if I should even put an intake and exhaust on it because of the mileage. The car does not like to be taken over 4000rpms. I am not going to put a new motor in it cause I am putting all of my money into my house at the moment but am still considering if I should get the intake and exhaust.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Mark D

if it were me........Id save the money for later or for the house. What engine are you currently running? I dont mean to be a dick, because I know you dont want to get an engine now, but the 600-700 bucks you would spend on an intake and exhaust would nearly get you a ZC. Just my Otherwise, the intake and exhaust would probably help you get some more miles out of your car and better gas mileage. (all depends on how much you mash the gas) Good luck and let us know what you gonna do.

well see on the house right now I am in the process of kicking out my roommates so there goes about 500 in my pocket each month.

As for the intake and exhaust it would all be under 300 for the whole thing. My driveway is gravel and so I am wanting to save money to get the drive way paved before I get a motor so I can have a place to work on it.

But I am just wondering if I get the exhaust and intake if it is going to kill my motor or help it. And like I said the motor does not like to go above 4000rpm. Oh and it is the D15B2.

dont bother with the intake/exhaust

i'd save for a swap, you might need it someday. what good is an intake and exhaust with a blown motor.

u won't blow ur motor....most of the people on this board have and intake and exhaust on thier car.....intake allows more air to enter ur engine allowing a lil bit of hp increace and a cat-back exhaust allows exhaust gases to exit ur engine more efficiently and allowing it to "breathe" better...also giving a lil bit of hp increase

i wouldn't say save up for a "swap"....however, i will say don't spend $300 on an exhaust when you can find a d15 or even a d16 for around $200 (give or take $$$). for not much more you could go dohc zc or sohc vtec.

shoot, if anything...i say spend the $150-ish and hook up some fuel injection.

Yeah i think that I may just work on the body for now until I get enough money for a swap. I am really leaning towards a B18a. Real easy swap by what I have heard. Staying all natural. No boost for me.

Thanks for all of your help guys. I will keep you all posted on the project.

yeah I did a tune up like a month ago. Changed the dizzy cap, oil, valve cover gasket, new clutch, front axles, and 2 torque motor mounts.

Also in the process of fixing the second oil leak as well as a cracked radiator.

I am getting what I paid for I guess for $800.
