Jaguar XJR-9LM

Well I've recently started work on Tamiya's Jaguar XJR-9LM - yes with the silk cut decals I assembled the engine block and sprayed it with a testors metallic silver spray can, only because my airbrush isn't working. I then hand painted the gearbox with the mix tamiya reccomends, this looks more like a metallic brown. I also painted the lower portion of the velocity stacks (?) xf-2 flat white. I then handpainted the rear suspension components, and springs. Next step - I'm not sure, I'll see what I can do without the airbrush

Silk Cut Jaguars. Definitely one of the prettiest of all the GTP/Group C cars. This one I'm definitely interested in.

Good luck with this build, I've always loved Jags. What is wrong with your airbrush?

I have a badger 200, which is probably as old as I am, my dad bought it like 20 years ago. The needle bearing and plunger spring need to be replaced.. but my dad and I are probably going to buy a new one.. as the one we currently have is so worn out..

Update - I started prepping the main body pieces by sanding the molding lines down. I then gave it a nice wash in hot sopay water, followed by a few light coats of TS-26 pure white. A day later, I gave it some more light coats. I'm deciding whether or not to buy the Scale Motorsport carbon fiber template set, so I haven't really started on the monococque/chassis section yet. Here are some pics of the painting progress - enjoy

body after sanding down the mold lines - picture quality could be better

after the 2 spraying sessions, once again, pic quality sucks

Update - I masked off the white areas, and sprayed it with TS-37 Lavender, which came out very nicely, which is a thing I've come to expect with Tamiya Sprays. I had a little bleeding on the front nose, but that should be covered up by the trim decals. I'm unsure as to how I should address painting the wing endplates, which are supposed to be white. I'll probably end up masking the entire wing surface, and somehow stripping the remaining lavender left over on the endplates, then just giving it a quick spray with TS-26. I should have the car decalled in a few days, so keep checking for updates

Update - I cleared the body, then applied the decals approximaitely 48 hours later.. they were somewhat brittle, but I didn't have too many problems with them. The decalling process took me about 3 hours Anyways, here are some pics
