Yes or no 4WS...

Are all 88 Preludes (2.0 Si) equipped with 4WS?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure it's the same as the 92-96 ludes, there is an Si 2WS and 4WS.

4ws is very dangerous.
i flipped a 1992 lude si 2.3 non vtec 160hp
slid around a curve and tried to correct myself.
the rear wheels cut opposite as the front wheels. which in turn caused my vehicle to hop and slide off the road

Maybe you are the dangerous one. Don't blame bad driving on 4WS unless you know what the outcome would be in a non-4WS lude.

No kidding, mabye learn to drive it 1st.... there is nothing dangerous about it... now mind you i have an 88SI 4WS wich is a fully mechanical systenm not some gimicy electronic crap...Not a single car who has tried has been able to follow my line in a corner... if you know how to drive nothing can handle like one of those cars... its fukin awesome when somone comes up to your parked car and says its messed up cause the back tires are turned

So... how do I find out if I have it or not? I doubted before but when I looked at the rear underside of the car, I saw some weird extra-looking stuff and assumed that I DO have it but I think it's shot somehow (since the back tires don't turn).

I think this because I read somewhere else that it *CAN* shut down the back steering b/c of damage protection.... like if you hit potholes too hard or something. Love the steering w/out the 4ws, but I WANT the 4ws!!!

You will have a 4WS badge on the back of the car. I don't know about 3rd gens, but in 4th gens you will have a light to the upper right of your speedo.

I don't know what gen lude you have SINCE WE DON'T HAVE CAR DESCRIPTIONS ANYMORE!
[underbreath]i thought this was an automotive site..[/underbreath]

If you are unsure, you probably don't have it.

I have an '88 2.0Si... I didn't specify because I thought the descriptions were still there! Crap, that sucks. *Wonders why they were removed*.

I guess I probably don't have it then. But I'm gonna look further.

easiest way to tell if you have 4WS

all the 88-91 preludes that HAVE 4WS will have what looks like a rear drive pod in the back underneath about where it would be if it was a drive pod. it says 4WS on it
also you can turn the wheels lock to lock and the back wheels will move.
I would think if you have it, you know it.
I have a 1990 with 4WS. it's awesome, and while I wouldn't trade it for anything, it DOES have 205,000 miles on it, so I may have to

Re: easiest way to tell if you have 4WS

i have a 92 Si 4ws and i love her to death, no one can follow in a turn and if you know how to drive it, it can be very fun. key phrase is if you know how to drive it. it is different at first so you should test it out before you start going balls to the wall in turns.
