Which versions of engines were built in the 1997-2002 Escorts?
Only the 2.0L 4 cyl SOHC Split Port Induction (SPI) engine that put out 110hp??? Or were there other versions? I am wondering because I bought a 1997 Escort LX in Germany (thats wherer I come from ) with 2.0L Engine and 97 hp ? (97hp, thats whats written in my Vehicle license) And you can find on "www.mobile.de" some Escort Wagon offered with 120 hp ? ![]() On www.wikipedia.org or other pages I can only find that one engine described with 110hp!! ![]() Are the other values all wrong now? ![]() I am sorry for bad english, I am from Germany ![]() (found that forum with google accidentally^^, I hope you american guys will know? )

Re: What types of engines?
Welcome to AF. Yes, the 1997 2.0 4cyl. SOHC SPI came out in the U.S. from 1997 to 2002. It does have a HP rating of 110. I believe the autos sent to Europe have different pollution controls and are rated at 97 HP. The only other Escort made in the US during that time was the ZX2. It had a DOHC and It was rated at 125 HP. The wagon version in Europe may have this engine at a reduced HP of 120 again because of different pollution controls. Your English is very good. Thank you for visiting our forum.
