I wouldn't spend a $100 for a 1/12, but thats just me. You do want you want with your money.
You have an auto show at school? Thats cool.

Yep, I agree with the above. It's your money and you're the only one who can determine if it's worth-it to you. Personally, I'd love to build a 1/12 scale kit, but I'm just not confident I could do as good a job as I'd like. I think I'll spend a bit more time working on the smaller stuff before I make the jump!

Even though it's 1/12 those Fujimi big scale cars don't seem that detailed to me. Look at it's sister cars in that series on HLJ and you can see for yourself. IMO, perhaps you'd be better off getting a 1/24 scale Tamiya R32 and then customising that. Up to you, your money, your time
