Arrow TransAm WS6 vs. Camaro SS

Both are GM F-bodys. Both are LS1. Both are big crud 2-doors. Both are SLP modified. But there are some key differences.

One styling... I like both but I prefer the mad look of the WS6 to the stuck up look of the Camaro. Very close though.

And the Ram Air system works a little better on the WS6 than the SS.
The WS6 also goes a tiny bit faster in a line.

Which do you prefer?

**side note** If you could care less about the F-body... state why you dislike them. Please don't go on for years, just state your point. And what car (compairable in price) do you think is a clear alternative?

Here goes nothing...

IMO...

too common.
too big.
turns like a truck.

the WS6 is a sharp looking ride, along with the SLP Firehawk... but the above still apply.

going really fast in a straight line may give their buyers a woody, but i prefer a good combination of handling AND power.

I think their fast as hell and what just about every ricer compares themselves to. I'm not a big fan of the styling, but I am impressed with how powerful those cars our straight out of the factory.

Yes, that's what was always their greatest factor. Preformance for your buck.

drift: No they aren't the best handlers out there. But how can you like cars that handle very well and still like Honda? The S2000 and NSX right? Most Honda's are front wheel drive which isn't the greatest. BTW, have you driven a F-body? If so what aspects of it's handling/cornering/grip didn't you like? Thanks.

My fiance used to own a Camero and the damn thing felt real loose going around some of the winding roads along Lake Michigan up here. As the car got older, you can hear more squeaks and moans and louder and louder as well. I haven’t had that problem in my VR4s and they are older then hers was. The one thing that I didn’t do was push the car to the limits on the curves either. With all that power running through the rear wheels, they can break loose pretty easily and send the car into all sorts of trouble. The AWD sure bites in with a surer foot.

Not like or like honda? I bought the Accord V6 as the new grocery getter. It was not purchased to be a performance car. The NSX is a different story. I've never driven one yet.

USA, you are wrong on one point. The WS6 TA is manufatured by Pontiac not SLP. That would be the Firehawk. BTW, did you know that Chevrolet does not produce the LS1 for the Camaro? SLP does. Chevrolet only produces an LS1 for the Corvette. Being a former WS6 T/A owner I can honestly say I like the T/A better. I test drove a 2001 Camaro SS and feel the suspension was a bit off. But really they are just the same mechanically.

Incorrect. The LS1 is made for the Camero, TA and Corvette. SLP upgrades the intake and exhaust among other minor things, but the enigine is still a LS1

Yes I know that each car has an LS1, but the LS1 engine for each car is built by a different company.

Firebird {Formula and T/A} LS1 is made by Pontiac
Corvette LS1 is made by Chevrolet
Camaro LS1 {Z28 and SS} is made by SLP

Do you want me to make that anymore clear? SLP also upgrades the Firebird models and Camaro models, but CHEVROLET DOES NOT MAKE AN LS1 FOR THE CAMARO. What did you not understand the first time I stated that?

I dont understand why you keep saying SLP builds an LS1. They do not have a plant that makes the LS1 engine. They do not build them. GM builds them. As in SLP does not manufacture engines. They dont do it. I can repeat this as often as you claim they do.

On the contrary, if you would go out and maybee find info like I can and do you would know that this is the truth. Chevy does not like to admit it and would deny it, but it is fact.

Well shit. I guess my brother in law who makes the goddamn things is royally confused at his job. I must inform him quickly that hes been only imagining being on the production line.

They dont Hakka - they only upgrade the Firebird (TA) to a Firehawk and augment the Camero to be a SLP Camero.

Doesn't SLP do the WS6 and SS preformance packages. I don't think they just do the Firehawk for the Firebird. I thihk they also do the WS6.

BTW, Lotus did most of the work for the ZR-1 engine. Cool eh?

I am for certain that the WS6 package is produced by Pontiac. Why in the hell would SLP make 2 performance packages for one car? Especially when both packages are so close in the performance that they offer. Hell the Firehawk package dose not cost much more than the WS6. Besides if you order a T/A with a Firehawk package, the dealer sends the order to SLP. With the WS6, the order just goes to Pontiac. Just take my word for it.
