Battery Light?
Hi,
My battery warning light comes on every once in awhile. Then it will go away then come back again. What does this warning light mean? Alternator? THanks

I would check for loose connections around the battery and alternator

The intermittent blinking can also be caused by a faulty regulator inside of the alternator causing it to surge the amounts of voltage its putting out. Get a volt meter and check voltage at your alternator and at the battery. you should get at least 12 volts and max should be 14.4. I got readings between 12.4 and 18.8 from my faulty alternator and I replaced it and everything was fine. Make sure you do as said in the first post and check all connections. Hope this helps.

In addition to the suggestions that others have posted, make sure you check the tension of the alternator belt itself. I had a similar problem a couple years ago. Over time the bolts holding my alternator in place had loosened just enough to ease the tension on the belt & the battery light would flicker.
