2000 Civic EX Swap!?
For some reason or another the engine on my 2000 Civic EX went out so I'm going to have to get a new one (pronto). I was looking into getting a bigger better engine since i'm going to be needing a new one anyway, thats where i came accros this "engine swapping". From the looks of it, the b16 will prob be the easiest/cheapest choice. If i decide to get this i have a couple questions:
1.Where do i locate/buy this engine from? Do i get it new or used? 2.If i do get this engine, will i have to update any of my other components? 3. Will my old mods work with my new engine? (CAI/headers) 4. How much does it run all together? (buying, putting together) 5. Turbocharging? I've herd if you do this it will lower the life expectancy(sp?) on your car. Oh and does turbocharging give it that little "pssst" noise? or is that supercharging? Also i plan on getting a new exaust in the near future so is there a brand highly recommended for the new engine? Any suggestion will be appreciated ;]

Anything you do to upgrade your engine (i.e air intake, headers etc.) will lower the life limit on the engine. And as far as the "psst" sound, i know that turbochargers give off that sound everytime you switch gears with the help of a blow off valve, just not sure about superchargers.

1. www.osakajdmmotors.com
www.hmotorsonline.com www.inlinefour.com 2. Probably the Motor Mounts and the harnesses. 3. No 'D' series engine mods work with a 'B' series engine. 4. The engine and installation will run around 3k probably, depending on the installation cost.

Quote:
2. most likely motor mounts, although im not sure if you will need them as the b16 was available in that year civic. when swapping you should replace; timing belt, water pump, plugs, wires, and distributor cap and rotor. 3. no your headers will not swap, however an intake may or may not fit, just slap it in and see, but be in the idea that most aftermarket parts will need to be re-bought. 4. engine and shipping from hmotors cost me 1500 to NY, not sure where you are from, install is around 1000 in NY as well, call local shops for an estimate. 5. turbo and supercharging both will lower the life span of your engine if not mainted/installed right, they both also make the psst sound.
