Help!! Car is running like a pile of poo!
And by pile of poo, I mean really shitty.
I'm in the process of doing my DPFI to MPFI swap on my 1989 Civic LX, and swapped out a Si distributor for the DX one. I did a pin-swap so the Si distributor is hooked up with the DX plug, with the crank sensor wires hanging out, awaiting to be connected. Note that I haven't installed the PM6 computer or the actual MPFI manifold yet. I wired up the spark plugs again, fired it up, and it runs...just like a pile of poo. Right now I have the timing either retarded or advanced all the way and it will idle slightly irregular, but not too bad. If I give it any gas, the RPM's will rise a little, then fall back down, nearly stall, and go back to idle. The car also seems to be putting out more exhaust. I checked the ECU and it gave me code 8 (TDC). Would playing with the timing fix this? (I have no timing light and was using trial and error). Or does the Si dizzy need to have the crank angle sensor wires connected up to work properly? Thanx guys!

Re: Help!! Car is running like a pile of poo!
I can't hook the crank angle sensor up to anything, because i'm still using the DPFI manifold (which doesn't need it, I thought).
