Unhappy What If You Have No Choice But An Automatic?

I live in a high traffic area and have commute to work everyday and even thu a 5spd would be sweet but real annoying in bumper to bumper traffic. So I’m buying a 94 LS automatic and already know to get H/E/I and maybe a chip also I’m looking in to spark plugs and that new skunk2 intake manifold. I just want to gets some guidance so people in stock 5spd Protégé, riced out civics, 3rd and 2nd gen accords, drunken lunatics, and others don’t think of me as a just a blur in there mirror.

PS: TIPTRONIC

Dude, if you prefer a 5-speed, get a 5-speed. These cars have completely different personalities depending on the tranny. Yeah, traffic is not as fun with a clutch, but as clutches go, these are really light on the foot and are OK in traffic. I know some people who "settled" on auto Integras and regretted it. There just always seems to be something missing there, particularly in the torque dept. Anyway, you could do far worse than an automatic Integra.

Even with all those mods you would barely be able to beat a bone stock 5 speed LS
An LS 5 speed with just a cai and cbi would probably beat you.

It's not necessarily the power loss as much as the gearing. The auto only has 4 gears, which drops the RPM more out of it's power zone when it shifts. Plus you can shift faster in a manual.

don't complain...i live in LA.....your traffic would be a nice drive for me in my 5-speed.....it takes me an hour to get to work (a 7 (yes, seven) mile drive). I wouldn't trade for an auto ANY day.

tiptronic is BS, it is more pathetic than a regular auto.

If you want an automatic then don't get a Honda (or Acura if you prefer )...

Seriously the engines in Integras are really not suited to an automatic transmission, you're better off with something bigger/torquier.

You might be better off in a police interceptor for an automatic but you will make me bitter when I'm flying down the highway at high speeds and see you and then me thinking your a cop like all the old people that drive those things But on second note I almost got pulled over when I raced a grand am that was an undercover cop

Yeah automatics suck, the rule in traffic because you don't have to put the car in gear, then release the clutch and then go, all you have to do is take your foot off the brake and push the accelerator, but it's no fun in a race, you don't do much and you drop below your torque band when it shifts, 5 speeds are the best way to go for any car that offers it if you ask me

If you want an auto, get an auto LS1 (98-02 Camaro/Firebird). The LS1 with the 4L60E transmission just goes too good together. Lid/Filter, Manifold, Mid-pipe and exhaust, High Stall converter with tranny cooler and some drag radials and youll be seeing really low 12s all day.
