Relay Life
I have a 96 Cherokee SE with about 90,000 miles. Over the last 9 months the AC clutch relay, the Starter Relay, and the Fuel Pump relay have all gone bad. Do these relays have a useable life, or do you think there something else in my electrical system causing them all to fail at roughly the same time? The only original relay left is the ASD relay, and I don't even know what that does, so if it goes bad I'm not sure I'd recognize the symptoms. Think I should replace it as a precaution?
Thanks in Advance |

Hi,
I don't know of any set "life" for relays. My '88 cherokee still has almost all of its original relays, though . All the relays in my Jeep appear to be Bosch, maybe Jeep began using a different brand on the newer cherokees? The ASD relay sounds like an Auto Shut Down relay (probably to remove power from the power windows, etc. after a given period of time.) Good Luck -Nick
