Coilovers for winter?

Please excuse my noobness. I can't afford coilovers with suspension adjustments, so I'm looking at Tein's Basic Coilovers which still have height adjustability. The reason I want height adjustability is for ground clearance in the winter, while still being able to easily drop it in the summer. Although the streets of Toronto are regularly plowed in the winter, I'm don't think a lowered 240sx would fare too well.

Is the 1.5 inch of extra ground clearance in the winter worth the extra ~$300 over a set of decent lowered springs & shocks.

what part of Toronto are you from? i'm also in the GTA! good to see more canucks on the board.

as for the coil-overs...what i plan to do is garage my car altogether in the winter and buy a beater...but that's harder to do. i'd say your idea isn't bad. if you do decide to save the money and go with springs and shocks, you can always put the stock ones back on for the winter.

I live in North York, near Steeles.

Although I would like a set of Tein Flexes and a winter beater, I'm already on a very tight student budget. Instead of the Flexes, I'd rather spend the $300 saved on the Basic coilovers for whatever bolt-on engine mods I can get.

I'm thinking that I wouldn't mind putting the time in to changing my coils every winter/summer while I'm changing the tires too. I'll use the money saved for some Arctic alpins for the stock rims.

there ya go.

and are you sure you can't afford a winter beater? go onto www.autotrader.ca and do a search for cars under $500. you will find TONS, and 75% of them are in running order. then you can buy one, beat the hell out of it for a couple of winter months while your 240 "hibernates" safely in a garage, and sell the beater for whatever you can get once winter is over.

Do you know of a good canadian or better yet torontonian place to get 240sx parts?

I've so far only found pdm-racing, based in B.C. They seem to be alright, but for some reason they only take american currency. I'll prolly get my cams done there.
