I'm really hearing good things about the prelude, such as performance/handling, but I also, of course, love the look of it. I'd like to buy a 4th gen (i believe) lude, such as the 92'-95' models, but it seems many of them either have too high of miles (in my ignorant opinion) or too expensive...
I'm 16 years old (2 months to 17), I understand the insurance costs, but I have discounts due to grades and a good driving program I did (you just have to fill out 30 driving trips and have a clean record, no crashes, no tickets). Needless to say, I'm not much a racer or speeder... let's just say I know where and when I can do what. Anyway, a few questions: I've noticed most of the 4th gens are around 100k miles, which seems too high IMO. But is it really too much? Opinions please! All help is appreciated! -par

In search of a Prelude
I have a 93 Prelude Si (black int/ext) and, yes, miles are typically in the 100Ks for a general use, 10-year-old vehicle.
, While I'm in no hurry to sell it (runs great and is super to look at--not many on the road), I've had several strangers approach me lately asking to buy it (after popping the hood). The last number I had thrown out at me is $12,000. I'm willing to sell it at that price. Car was never raced, driven with care, regular maintenance. |

Bought mine at 145K. The car was totalled at 11k. I haven't had a single problem with it, save for the clutch. Just make sure before you buy, that all service has been done to it. Having a full paper trail really helped in my decision to buy my lude.
Just do your research beforehand. Get a carfax vehicle history report.

yeah i totally agree with the prelude's rare factor heh, I went to 3 honda used lots today and saw ONE prelude (a 2001). im definately gonna go private party when i buy one, there are only about 10 4th gen ludes for sale around where i live (minniapolis area). ive only check the paper and car soup though. Most are 95-96 and asking for 8k+ but there are a few 92's for 5-6k which im interested in.
One of the 92s (an SI) has 120k miles, exterior/interior are perfect and says is owned by a mechanic. they are asking 5.5k or BO for that, it also has an upgraded stereo, K&N air filter (raced?) and brand new winter tires (this is MN, thats a pretty big deal). 2.3L I4 16V DOHC is the engine type, i suppose once the miles get too high, i could swap the engine for a VTEC. I'm not positive 92's can have vtec put in them, but im pretty sure i read it somewhere. If not, thats no biggy i dont plan on racing this car... but always a possibility tho.
