86 si head still good?
Okay, I have an 86 crx si that needs a head. I found one at the junkyard and I was told that the reason it was there was because it blew a head gasket. So, what I want to know is....should it still work okay or could it have major problems? I know that there is a possibility that it could be warped but I am not worried about that, I will just get it ground down. Anyways, thanks for the help

It should be OK to use as a quick fix, especially if you have means to mill it down a little.
When the headgasket blows, the motor just loses compression and will not run usually the engine parts are salvagable. Check the head for bent valves, worn seals, or anything else goofy looking. |

Re: 86 si head still good?
Yeah junk yard fixes are usually ok for quick fixes. the only real problem with doing that is if you find out its no good after you've taken all the time to put it in. I just got a transmision from a salvage yard and put it in a subaru and it works fine. maybe take the head to a mechanic and have him take a look at it to make sure its ok
