If you're talking about mounting them in your car...you're going to have to make a custom box for them anyways. Without a box subs just dont make good sound. Car subs are made to be in a box. |

What I did was is made a triangular wedge that follows the contour of the hatch. I also have 2 12" subs, and they fit great with plenty of room for storage. One thing you have to keep in mind is the cubic volume the subs requires in order to get the proper sound out of them. You can go a few different routes in customization. custom build a box that fits just as I did, or like the two pictures shown below.

This is what they did for mine. They removed the spare tire and built the box and everything right to my trunk. If you still would like to use the trunk they make custom enclosures for mustangs that tuck in the sides of the trunk.

Blaupunkt makes these subs that are two inches deep. They are part of the overdrive line, and i bet they are super pricy, but they would save you room and the hastle of the box. You are supposed to be able to mount then in the backs of the front seats, under the front seats, in the roof liner, anywhere.
I havn't seen them since i saw them at a car audio dealership in san jose, I can't find them anywhere - but if they aren't astronomically expencive i'll end up getting them.
