2000 Accord P1491 EGR code

I have a 2000 Accord with the V6. A year or so ago we got an EGR warranty extension and had the dealer do all the updates with the sleeve and all. Now the check engnie light is on and I get the P1491 code. The car now has almost 100,000 miles on it. This is getting ridicilious, what do you think I should do? I am thinking about just getting a new EGR at $150.

Re: 2000 Accord P1491 EGR code

clean it out yourself. If you do a search for EGR, you will find that it is a semi-common problem, and you can find more than enough info on cleaning it out.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

i had that same problem i had 2 codes on mine, 1 code was "egr valve flow insufficient" and the other was "egr flow insufficient" my mechanic cleaned my old egr valve for 5 bucks and it worked 1 code went away ("egr VALVE flow insufficient") but "egr flow insufficient" still remained so now i got pissed and just bought a NEW egr valve to see if that would help, but it didnt i wasted the money buying it, i still have the problem and they gotta open the whole egr system and clean it out, such a big problem. i got a 98 accord v6.
